Insiders Think These Trends Will Sell Out First Next Season

Reginald Robinson

While we look at the runways to see the trends to come, fashion industry insiders get an idea of what trends will be selling out first by seeing what's bought up by distributors. Last month, retailers gathered at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York for the Coterie trade show exhibition to review fashion offerings for the fall season with over a thousand exhibitors showing their new lines.

As highlighted by WWD, the biggest trend pieces were clear from the start—current hot-ticket items retailers are having trouble keeping on the racks are proving their staying power as the seasons shift. Even the layout of the event reflected the trends of the times, with three neighbordhoods—"Active," a collection of athleisure brands, "Tmrw," emerging designers with a global perspective, and "Disruptors," brands that practice sustainability or social awareness. WWD surveyed a range of attendees to speak on trends they expect to be the top-performers in retail come fall—and it's apparent that they're already in demand today.

See below for the trends that fashion industry insiders say will sell out first once they hit the racks.
